What is the Duolingo English Test?

The Duolingo English Test (DET) is a newer way for students to prove their English ability. Unlike traditional exams, it can be taken online at home, only requires

a computer with a camera and microphone, and takes about one hour. More and more universities around the world are accepting the Duolingo test as proof of English proficiency because it is flexible, affordable, and quick.

The test includes four main skill areas:

• Reading
• Listening
• Speaking
• Writing

What makes DET different is its adaptive style. The difficulty of the questions changes depending on how you answer. If you answer correctly, the next question will be harder; if not, it will be easier. This allows the test to find your level quickly and accurately.
